How to use your Soundbox stations with Alexa: spoken names, routine shortcuts, and account-linked playback.
Use a phrase that sounds natural
A station's written name is not always the phrase Alexa understands. Dots, initials, abbreviations, and local nicknames often need a spoken form. Soundbox keeps the display name, primary Alexa name, and aliases together so the station can be requested naturally.
Routine shortcuts are kept separately from station details. The phrase you say can be changed in Soundbox, while the Alexa instruction remains tied to the station's primary Alexa name. If you change a routine phrase, make the corresponding change in the Alexa app so its routine continues to match.
Keep modes separate
Local, Morning, Night, Favorites, Ordered, Smart, and Explore are separate ways of listening. Local and Favorites are choices you make. Ordered follows the visible station list. Adaptive modes can learn from listening without changing those manual choices.
That separation keeps requests predictable. A Morning shortcut asks for Morning listening; it does not change which stations count as Local or add a station to Favorites.
Keeping a song by voice
A speaker is often where a good track passes before you can reach a screen. Asking Alexa to save the song starts the same audio-identification process used in Soundbox, based on the station currently playing.
The reply is intentionally brief. Identifying a recording takes a few seconds, and the result belongs in your saved songs rather than in a long spoken interruption over the music.
Account linking and playback
Alexa links to your Soundbox account securely. Once linked, station and mode requests use your private library. Soundbox normally gives the player the station's own secure stream rather than relaying the audio through Soundbox.
A small number of older stations still publish non-secure audio. Where necessary, Soundbox can provide a secure listening route for those streams while keeping ordinary secure streams direct.
