Soundbox helps listeners keep a personal collection of independent internet radio stations and return to them by phone or Alexa.
Independent radio opens windows onto scenes, cities, record collections, conversations, and musical histories that do not fit neatly inside a recommendation feed. Soundbox helps you keep the stations you discover without turning listening into a public profile.
Save a station with the details that make it useful: its website, stream, place, and the name you would naturally say aloud. Play it on your phone or through Alexa, and keep songs you hear for a playlist later. The goal is straightforward: a station worth keeping should be easy to find again.
You can also try Soundbox without an account, using a small set of starter stations before deciding whether to create your own library.
Private by default
Your station library, listening history, account settings, and Alexa setup remain behind sign-in. Public guides and listening notes never reveal which stations an individual has saved or played.
Soundbox is independent software, not a broadcaster. Audio normally travels directly from the station to your device, so the station remains the source of its own programming and audience relationship.
Made for attentive listening
Soundbox is built around the ordinary work of listening: finding the stream behind a station website, remembering a show discovered late at night, giving a voice assistant a clear phrase, and repairing a favorite when its address changes.
The public notes explore the same territory: independent stations, music discovery, radio as a sense of place, and the habits that turn a passing stream into part of a personal collection.
On the speakers you already have
Soundbox plays through Alexa, and through Home Assistant on any media player it can reach. The library is the same in every place; only the way you ask for it changes.
The Home Assistant integration is installed through HACS. It puts your stations in the media browser and adds actions and spoken phrases for playing a station, moving to the next one, and keeping a song.
